The latest rehearsal from Burjesta included only two of the cast who were being taken through one part of the play which centred around a train station. In this scene no words were spoken, it was about the actors trying to navigate their way around the station platforms. The amount of work that went in to getting something without spoken words to work was quite incredible.
Something I as a mere spectator, who when I go to see a play takes such things for granted it really is an eye opener as to how much it actually takes to get the actions just right. The actors involved went over and over the scene until they were all happy with the outcome. The comical element in the script worked well and the newly learnt Noh techniques added just what was needed for myself to understand what was happening with the scene given no text was being used.
